This is my second set and lighting design for the Maddermarket Theatre, for their March 2009 production of Ariel Dorfman's 'Death and the Maiden'. I kept it simple (like the designer :D ) and focussed on making it feel expansive and sweaty, using strong, hot colours to hopefully give it a feel of the Chilean climate. Inspired by the rather unorthodox, yet mindblowing disco ball in Matthew Bourne's Dorian Gray (a reference to what is rumoured to be the costliest piece of contemporary art in history at £50m - Damien Hirst's 'For the Love of God') I thought I'd have a bash at making one myself. I started it in November... and I'm still going... *watch this space* Alright... so it's not as pretty or expensive but I'm having great fun! :D

The Maddermarket's 2008 Christmas show required a couple of giant headpieces... so here are some piccies of Rhitta of the Beards (or Hitler as the album cover shows...nah I was just messing about with an old wig...scary though innit?) and The Washerwoman at the Ford. Who's more of a minger? Answers on a postcard please!

Yippee!!! Photographs of my first main stage production what people pay to come and see for a run of ten days (sorry, getting a little over excited here!). For the Maddermarket's March 2008 production of Yazmina Reza's play 'Art', three large paintings were required (4' x 4'). A completely white canvas, a Jack Vettriano copy, and a view from a window of Carcassonne in France.
